He has started to discover his hands these days and loves to suck on them as you can see! His newest thing is to try to stick the entire hand into his mouth - it is hilarious!

2 Month Checkup

I cannot believe my baby will be 2 months old on Christmas Eve! Time is going by way too fast!!!
He had his 2 month checkup today and weighed in at 10lbs 5oz and is now 22 1/2 inches long. The doctor said he is in the 25th percentile for both his height and weight, and that is looking really good. He also got his first round of vaccines today and it was so sad! As soon as the nurse poked him for his first shot, he screamed and turned bright red/purple in the face...it was so sad it even made me tear up - I felt awful!! He was a trooper though and seems to be better now. We will go back in 2 months from now for more shots and I can't wait until then to see how much he has grown!

Snow!!

Holy moly! We got home late last night and headed up the hill to find TONS of snow waiting for us!! It was insane. We heard it snowed at home while we were in Las Vegas, but we did not realize that meant our house would look like a house in Bend or something. It was beautiful and even more beautiful this morning! We are so incredibly lucky to be living up here and this makes us realize it even more :)

Las Vegas Baby!!!

At the last minute we decided to go to Las Vegas for a friends wedding. I was nervous about traveling with Davin on a plane for the first time, but knew that this would also be a good warm-up for future trips. I thought about what I needed to bring for him for the few days leading up to the trip - and I remembered to bring everything he needed - imagine that!
We flew out of Arcata to Salt Lake, then onto Vegas. Each flight was no more than 2 hours long which was really nice. And Davin was absolutely wonderful on all flights - honestly he was! We are so lucky, he really is a such a good baby :) The flights worked out almost perfect that I was able to feed him just before take-off and he would either sleep or happily hang out until landing, when it would be time to feed again. Everything just went so smooth - the most difficult part was the security screening - that part is a lot of work even without a baby! Lol!


These were taken when we were landing in Salt Lake - the pressure was obviously a strange feeling for him. His expression was priceless!

Christmas Photo Shoot!

As you all know I enjoy trying to get Davin to cooperate and take some fun pics....and you also know it does not always go very well. I managed to get some good ones, but also caught some where he is just not a happy boy. I must admit, I was cracking up when he was having a mini-meltdown because he was too cute!! These are among the pics I will be sending out with our Christmas cards - let me know which are your favorite!!

Play Time

Once again I went picture crazy with Davin today. I set up his playmat today for the first time and he loved it! I took all kinds of pics but these are my favorites....and yes I took a few videos too. I thought it would be nice for my family who has not met him yet to get to see him in action - and look at him go - lol! He really is getting more active, but these videos didnt completely capture that. Oh well - next time!

First Bottle

So I gave in and let Tavis give him his very first bottle.....and yes its full of breastmilk ;) I have been trying to pump often, but it is not an easy task. However I did manage to get enough for Tav to feed him. Not only did Davin love it, but Tavis loved it!! He wishes I could pump all the time so that he could feed him more often. My reservation about that is that Davin may find that feeding from a bottle is much easier than my breast and I do not want to end up having to pump just to feed him. So unfortunately for Daddy he will only get to feed him every once in a while....at least for the time being ;)

With the advice of several people I finally bought the Babywise book. I started reading it and it has some really good advice. I bought it a few weeks ago and started the schedule right away. I must admit though - I am pretty good about sticking to it, but there are still times that I let it slide. It can be soooo hard to keep him awake after feeding sometimes! He turns into a little rag doll and its all I can do to keep him awake - hahaha :)
Despite those times, it has been going well and last night was the first night that he slept for 6 hours! We put him down at 9pm and he did not wake up until 3 am - woohoo!!! It might not seem like a lot of sleep to some, but for all you other parents out there - you can understand the excitement. After the 3am feeding he slept until about 6am and has been feeding every few hours since then. I'd like to say that his sleep can be attributed to his new Babywise schedule, but I won't commit to that until this becomes a regular thing....so only time will tell if it is working or not (and I'll be sure to keep you posted).
