First tooth - I mean TEETH!!

Davin finally got his first TEETH in! Woohoo!! Now hopefully soon he can start eating more solid food like a big boy. I cannot believe he is just now getting his teeth though. I have been waiting and waiting for this moment and now that it is here I want all the teeth to come in at once...but I know that is not going to happen. Wishful thinking :)
He is a little backwards though with this whole teeth thing - it is his TOP front teeth making the first appearance. Wonder when the rest will come....

And Arizona too!!

After we went to Disneyland we headed over to Arizona. It was a lot of driving but we luckily we were able to break the entire trip up from home to Disneyland to Arizona and back. We were gone for about two weeks, which was just long enough to have a lot of fun yet be ready to come home after that. The Cains' took their motorhome, and we and the Eisner's took our fifth wheels. And I tell you what - having our home on wheels is sooo nice with kids! It makes everything easier, making lunch, stopping for pottie breaks, playtime, nap time...etc. We are so spoiled :)

Our first stop in Arizona was the quaint little town called Quartzsite. And when I say quaint I mean there is really nothing there but a gas station, a small market, maybe a restaurant, and one HUGE swap-meet/flea-market. Seriously. It was pretty amazing really, and for the desert the scenery was nice too. The main reasons we went there were for the giant market and to ride. We took our quads and rhinos and headed for the hills.


The cool way to camp in Quartzsite is to just got out in the middle of the desert and park. No hookups, nothing. Just park and settle in. It sounds pretty crazy I know, and it was, but it was actually really fun. We chose a spot that was close to other people, but not so close that you worry a sneeze will bother them if its after 10pm ;)









We stayed out there for a few days and got some good rides in, then headed out to a another small town just outside of Phoenix, called Goodyear. The park there was really nice and had a very warm swimming pool, which was great for the kids.



The Phoenix Zoo was about 30 minutes away from where we stayed so we took the kids there for the day. Kyndle really had a good time and Davin just wasn't sure about most of it. He is still a bit young to grasp what he is seeing, but he was a good little trooper and seemed to enjoy himself.











Our last stop in Arizona was Lake Alamo. I thought we were in the middle of nowhere in Quartzsite, and I was wrong! Lake Alamo is really out in the desert, but at least it had a state park with rv sites...but that was it!



This place however was the best for riding and the guys went out several times a day. They had a blast!





Even Davin and Kyndle got to get a little riding in too!







The kids had a blast here because they could run around all over the place and be crazy. It was great!

Disneyland!!!

We - along with Tav's parents and the Eisners - took Davin (and his cousins) to Disneyland for the first time. We all had such a good time, and I am pretty sure the grownups had more fun on the rides than the kids did! We also went to California Adventure and it was awesome. It had some bigger rides for us adults and let me tell you - we sure took advantage of all them!! Kenny and I even went on the same ride three times! Haha :) I cannot wait until Davin is old enough to really enjoy the park and get excited to meet all the characters....then the real fun will begin!

Did I mention Tasha and I thought it would be a good idea to make our last ride a water ride?? And did I mention how we barely even got wet?? Not!!

15 Month Checkup

Davin had his 15 month checkup today and he is doing really well. He now weighs 20lb 9oz (3%) and is finally able to turn around in his carseat - yay!! He is 31" tall (49%), and has a head circumference of 47.5 (60%). He is still such a little guy, but he is following his growth curve just right! I know I say it a lot, but he is growing up too fast. He is now 15 months old and before I know it he will be 15 years old!!

Daycare

Now that Davin is 14 months old it is time for him to start going to daycare. Up to this point I have been bringing him with me to work, but it has gotten to the point where I feel guilty. I feel guilty for having him cooped up with me in the office all day, and I feel guilty because I know I could be doing my job better. But it is really hard to do my job as well as I would like to when I have to take a break every so often to feed him, change him, or play with him. Both Davin and I are ready for a change and it is time for him to start socializing with other kids too.
We chose to send him to Annie's two days a week and he seems to be doing ok. The first day it took him a minute to warm up to Annie and the other kids, but once he did he happily played and took a nap as he should. The second day he went, he played and hung out no problem....but he refused to nap. Instead he screamed in his crib for quite some time until being rescued by Annie. She tried and tried to no avail - and of course he fell fast asleep on the ride home with me....little stinker! Yesterday was the same napping issue (poor Annie), but this time he cried and cried when I went to leave. It was so hard for me to walk out the front door but I knew I had to for both Davin's sake and mine.
I think the next few weeks will be interesting with him realizing he is getting droppped off and left behind. I know we will get through it, but I don't like that someone else has to figure out how to make him happy when he cries and cries and cries. I really hope for Annie's sake that he figures out its fun to be there with the kids and that taking naps is OK....wish us all luck!!

New Years 2009

What a way to ring in the new year! We had about 25 people up to the house this year and it was a blast! The kids ran around all night long, and we all ate and drank far too much, but it made for good memories! Not to mention - Tawny and Travis got engaged!!! Woohoo!! Not sure if we can top a celebration like this year, but it won't hurt to try :)
Honestly though, I cannot believe how the year has flown by. I feel like 2009 has just begun, yet there have been so many milestones for us at the same time. Davin has gone from a little baby who didn't do much more than eat, sleep, and poop to a wonderful little man. He learned to crawl, walk and is now starting to run and climb on everything! He is even beginning to talk and it is so much fun!
We have welcomed our second niece, Colby, into the world....Travis and Lyndsey are expecting (a boy!)....Tawny and Travis are engaged (finally!)....Tyler moved back home from Ecuador (just for a while)....Erin and Tim got married!....this list goes on and on....but most importantly we are all healthy and happy - so that makes it a great year!
