How it all went down.....

Okay....here is the rundown on how it all happened....
Let's begin by saying that nothing went "as planned" or as expected. I was in labor for 15 hours and pushed for 3 of those!! It was insane. The pain is unreal, I cannot even describe it. My water broke on the plaza in arcata at 7p on the 23rd. It was hilarious and exciting all at the same time. When I realized what had just happened I could not stop laughing - but panic swept over Tavis and the adrenaline started pumping. I called the doctor and we went directly to the hospital and thats when the real fun began. I was dialated to about 2 when I got there, and the contractions started coming on slowly. They weren't enjoyable in the least and I was only having mild ones at that point! Naturally I asked for pain relief and they gave me some drugs to ease the pain, but it didn't last long. I dont remember what it was called, but they gave it to me 3 times throughout the night. The pain was becoming much more unbearable and after a while I was checked again was dialated to 3 almost 4. Besides Tavis being absolutely amazing and encouraging the entire time, the thing that kept me going was knowing I was getting closer to being able to have the epidural!
Well.....as it turns out, I was working through some intense contractions on the birthing ball and when I got up there was some bodily fluids on the ball - indicating I could farther along. We immediately called the nurse in and she checked me again and found I had dialated to 8 in just about 3 hours!! Insane. Needless to say it was too late to get an epidural at that point. So I had a completely natural birth. OMG. The pain was so incredible I could NEVER describe what it felt like. I am now proud to be able to say that I delivered naturally, but if given the choice again - I would still opt for the epidural!
I started pushing shortly after that for 3 hours....i was soooo tired and towards the end not alot was changing. The nurse kept suggesting that I change positions and I did not want to at all....but thankfully I did because I think it helped get that baby out! I found out after the fact that the doctor was talking about the possibility of c-section. Thank goodness it did not result in that.
Davin finally decided to come out and meet the world!! The entire experience was unreal!! And it is still sooo surreal to finally be holding him and seeing him. It is just so amazing :) :) :) We have been home since Saturday afternoon and its been tiring at times, but we have had a lot of help from family and friends so it has been really nice.
He is feeding soooo well too! I really do not have a lot to complain about....except the discomfort in my lower half - lol! He really has been amazing. and we are sooo in love its ridiculous!!Breastfeeding has been going amazing too. He has been a good little sucker from day one. We are quite a team. I had some discomfort in the very beginning, but nothing really bad. It has been more of an adjustment....I mean, when is the last time we were sucked on? Lol!
All in all, I would not change what happened at all. Tavis was absolutely wonderful and he really could not have done any better. Our family and friends were amazing too and we could not have done this without them. We are so blessed to have been surrounded by such people and to now have a beautiful healthy little boy!!
