Happy Halloween!!

Once again Tawny hosted our annual Halloween party at her house, and it was so much fun! I think there were many more people at the house this year, and almost everyone was dressed up! Tavis and I were supposed to be vampires, but we didn't have the fang teeth because we worried it would scare Davin....so we mostly just looked dead. Which is appropriate since it was Halloween :) Davin was Maverick from Top Gun and he looked adorable!!! I think he might have to wear the outfit again just because! Lol!! Everyone that dressed up looked so good and I think it made the party even more fun to see what everyone chose to be. We had a really good time at Tawny's and it made us realize we are ready for the holiday season with lots of get togethers and parties....oh and the food and booze - that is always a good thing too!!

We got Davin a battery operated four wheeler for his birthday and he just loves it. We thought it would take him a while to get the hang of pushing the button to make it move, but we were wrong - he figured that out real quick! Now we just need to teach him how to steer...

Happy Birthday!!

Davin turned 1!!!! Where in the world has the time gone?? I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by. Our little boy has grown up so much over the past year, and each stage has been so bittersweet. It has been so fun watching him learn and change and we are trying so hard to cherish every little thing because we know how fast it goes by! We really could not be more proud of our little man, and we fall more in love with him every day. He has changed our lives for the better and nothing would be the same without him.

Nap Time

Now that Davin is nearly one (OMG!) we have decided that is finally time to let him learn to fall asleep on his own. We have tried in the past, but our schedules have never been consistent enough, but now we are deciding to give it another shot. Life is slowing down, we are not heading out of town every weekend to the lake, a festival, etc, etc....Not to mention I am working two days a week and Davin has been coming with me. Over the past few months it has gotten much trickier trying to keep him happy while he's with me at work, so we have decided that it is time to start sending him to daycare. Problem: He will not fall asleep without being rocked and fed a bottle. Ya, ya I know. We set ourselves up for this one to be a struggle. And now is proof that we may have made it more difficult than it really ever needed to be. Regardless of the past, we have started to feed him his bottle and then put him in his crib and let him cry it out. And it is not fun.
We decided that we were starting Thursday October 15th - no significance, just the first day of my four day weekend. On the first day he cried for nearly and hour and a half (with me checking on him every 10-15 minutes) until he fell asleep. The next few times he cried for about an hour each time, off and on, until he gave up and slept. Monday I had to work so we went in early and left in time to get him home for his morning nap - this time he only cried for about 30 minutes. I was feeling so good - making progress. Slowly, but still progress. When I laid him down for his morning nap today he cried for about 20 and was out. But then his afternoon nap....oh man did he scream! When I first put him down he literally cried out once and was then silent. I thought "Did that really just happen? Is this battle over?" Heck no. About 15 minutes later he began crying, then screaming, so I went in to make sure he wasn't complaining about a dirty diaper. Nope. So I reassured him he was ok and left the room....He proceeded to cry it out for another hour until he gave up and slept for about 30 minutes. Not sure what changed in him today, but I sure hope he doesn't revert back to his old ways! I was hoping this battle would be over in about 3-4 days, but it seems that this stubborn little one will take a bit longer....Might as well just hold on for the ride!! Wish us luck!!!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the Blue Lake Pumpkin Patch this past weekend with Tasha, Kenny, Kyndle and Colby. It was really fun. We rode the wagon out the field and chose what we thought were the best pumpkins - and that was hard! I guess we went earlier than usual this year and had lots to choose from. I don't remember there being such a large selection in years past, but we all managed to come home with one for each member of our family.
After the pumpkin picking we hung out while Kyndle made some new friends in the hay maze. She was jumping of the tops of the hay bales with no fear - not the typical Kyndle :) The kids saw a gopher poking its head out its hole too, and they were very amused by that. Even Davin was checking it out! We stayed around to watch Kyndle get her face painted, but then decided we were going to leave the rest of our group behind, it was time to get Davin home for his nap! Gotta stick to our routine, and it is working - thank goodness!!
With our pumpkins selected, we can't wait to carve them this weekend!!

Boo!

Davin enjoys the game of peek-a-boo. He thinks its funny when someone says "Boo!" So the other day Davin was playing in the kitchen and as I got closer I thought I would give him a little "boo!". The first time I said it, he thought it was funny. The second time I said it, he still thought it was funny. By the fifth or sixth time I said it, he was completely cracking up. At that point I was laughing too but kept the game going long enough to capture the giggles on film. A child's laugh always makes everything better!!

Have I mentioned....

Davin is WALKING!! Okay, not all the time yet, but very close. His first official day of "walking" was on my dad's birthday - September 16th. Tavis and I have been working with him on walking, and he was getting the hang of it but would only walk between Tav and I. On the evening of the 16th we had my family up for dinner and we were showing off how well D was able to take a few steps now. We were so proud. He happily showed off his skills a few times back and forth and was done. So we let him play....next thing we see is him take his first true steps (without any encouragement) from his train to the coffee table. Did I say we were proud earlier? Well, we were REALLY proud this time!! We all clapped and cheered, it was pretty neat. I am glad my family got to witness that moment.
Since that night, D has been all over the place. No matter where he goes he walks with his arms up in the air, like he is ready to take flight or something. It is too funny! Each day he gets more and more brave and tries to walk further than the last time. Everyone says once they start to walk, they are all over the place. It is so true, but it is so much fun to watch!!

Colby Christine Eisner is born!!

We welcomed our second niece into the world on September 5th!
Remember how my water broke on our way to sushi when I went into labor with Davin?? Well....Tasha and Chris were having sushi for lunch, and as they went to leave Tasha's water broke! Really, truly it did!! Too funny!! Anyways, Tasha water broke around 12:30pm and she had Colby around 4:30pm that same day - talk about a short labor! Lucky lady :)
Both Tasha and Colby are doing really well and everyone is healthy and happy. Tav and I were at the lake that weekend, so we missed the birth, but we came home a couple days later and got to see the little lady. She is so small! It is hard to believe that Davin was once that same size.
